The Grove is a 6,000-tree native woodland planned to surround the outdoor classroom deck at Thornton Grove Primary School in Hailsham. Three tranches of this mini forest have been planted; the first in December 2025 and two in February 2026 – with a fourth planting to follow. Safeguarding is paramount for our primary school planting events, see our policies below.
When complete, The Grove will be one of the most significant school woodland projects in the south of England. It will be a thriving native forest planted by the children who will grow up alongside it, managed on Miyawaki principles, and monitored by the school community for years to come.
